In his own words, Terence Crawford has accomplished everything there is to accomplish in boxing. Only one personal goal remains.

The 36-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska won his first world titles at lightweight. He would move up and become undisputed at 140 before taking on welterweight and completing the same feat there with a career-best victory over Errol Spence Jr.

He has made it clear that nothing remains for him in that division and recently booked a fight at 154 against WBA Champion Israil Madrimov.

That step up on August 3 is not only a chance to become a four-weight world champion, but a measuring stick to see how his body responds to more weight. He doesn’t want to stop there after all.

Crawford has undisputed super-middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez firmly in his sights, no matter how many people warn him that the jump in weight is too much.

On an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, ‘Bud’ said it was the only thing that could add to his legacy at this point.

“Going up an becoming undisputed against Canelo? Woo. Come on man, I’m flying into the sunset, man. Thank you boxing gods. That would be it. That’s the only thing there for me.

I accomplished everything there is to accomplish in the sport of boxing. There’s really nothing for me to accomplish right now. It’s about the money now, I’m not gonna sit here and say it’s not. The money and the chance to beat Canelo? If that fight were to ever happen. Come on, man. Y’all better leave me alone.”

So far, Canelo has dismissed the idea but, with the backing of Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh that Crawford now benefits from, anything in the sport can happen.

He faces undefeated Madrimov on August 3 in Los Angeles.
