Terence Crawford Didn’t Hesitate To Name His Toughest Ever Opponent: “He Hit Me More Than Anybody”

Terence Crawford is yet to taste defeat in his professional career.

Crawford has had 41 professional fights to date since his debut back in 2008, winning all of them, with 31 of those victories coming by stoppage.

His first world title win came at lightweight, before he went on to become undisputed at both super-lightweight and welterweight.

His most recent world title victory was in August, when he defeated Israil Madrimov by unanimous decision to win the WBA super-welterweight title.

While some fans felt that may have been the hardest that Crawford has been pushed in his career, he gave another answer for his toughest opponent when asked by Carl Froch on his Froch On Fighting YouTube channel, choosing Egidijus Kavaliauskas.

“My toughest opponent I would say was Egis. Me and Egis, I think me fighting the wrong style made it tough, even though I got the stoppage.

“If you watch that fight he hit me more than any other opponent to this day. Madrimov hit me with right hands here and there, but Egis hit me with hooks, right hands, we were in there really fighting.”

Crawford fought Kavaliauskas at Madison Square Garden in New York back in December 2019, in a defence of his WBO welterweight title.

It was an entertaining back and forth affair, with ‘Bud’ eventually getting the stoppage in round nine victory after dropping his opponent in both the seventh and ninth round.

Crawford has also recently named his favourite fighter of all time, revealing how he studied one man’s career to help him get to where he is now.
