Terence Crawford is confident he knows who comes out on top when Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois go into their rematch in July.
‘Bud’ is a two-weight undisputed champion who has cleaned out both the light-welterweight and welterweight divisions. Usyk has matched that at cruiserweight and heavyweight and when he takes on ‘DDD’ at Wembley Stadium next month, he could make history in becoming a two-time undisputed heavyweight ruler.
The pair have history, of course, as they first fought back in August 2023. That fight was won by Usyk, who stopped ‘DDD’ in the 9th round, but not before being down on the canvas in the 5th after what was ruled by the referee as a low blow and gave Usyk all the time he needed to recover, which he did.
Speaking to Ring Champs with Ak & Barak, Crawford was asked how he sees the rematch going and didn’t hesitate to back the Ukrainian.
“Usyk, Hands down.”
Ahead of his own epic showdown with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, Crawford was asked about the previous fight and doubled down on his prediction.
“Usyk. It was a low blow. Usyk going to win.”
Since the first contest, Dubois has grown in confidence and put together an impressive string of victories, including KO wins over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and most recently Anthony Joshua back in September.
He was due to fight Joseph Parker in February but had to withdraw due to illness, but as a younger man in good form, he is expected to be a much tougher opponent for Usyk, who is now pushing 40, the second time around.
