Pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford is no longer the undisputed super-middleweight champion after he was stripped of one of his world titles.

The 38-year-old from Nebraska etched his name into the boxing history books back in September when he defeated Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez via unanimous decision at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

‘Bud’ Crawford became the first male fighter in modern boxing to win an undisputed world championship in three separate divisions, having already accomplished this feat at super-lightweight and welterweight respectively.

His reign as undisputed king at 168lbs has come to an end after just three short months however, after it was revealed that he had been officially stripped of his WBC super-middleweight title.

As reported by The Ring Magazine, Crawford failed to pay the required sanctioning fees to the WBC which subsequently led to him being stripped of the title, meaning he now holds the unified WBO, WBA and IBF titles at 168lbs.

It has been suggested that ‘Bud’ could make the move down to middleweight ahead of his next outing, although a potential showdown with Janibek Alimkhanuly now appears to be unlikely after it was revealed that the hard-hitting Kakazh star had tested positive for a banned substance.

Another option is, of course, the Canelo rematch, with the Mexican icon reportedly keen on making it happen.
