Multi-Weight World Champion Admits Terence Crawford Destroyed Him In Sparring: “He’s Different”

Terence Crawford is widely considered to be one of the greatest fighters of his entire generation.

The 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska is 41-fights in to what has been an exceptional professional career to date, where he has captured world titles across four weight classes including the undisputed championship at super-lightweight and welterweight.

He is currently gearing up for what could be the toughest test of his career when he faces Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez for the undisputed super-middleweight championship on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A key factor in the success of ‘Bud’ is his choice of sparring opponents throughout his tenure, which includes former two-weight world champion and Hall of Famer Timothy Bradley Jr, who spent some time sparring Crawford during the earlier stages of the 37-year-old’s career.

Speaking on The Untouchable Tru School, Bradley shared details of a sparring session he had with Crawford back in 2011, where he reveals he cut the session short after he sparred just four rounds with his fellow countryman.

“First day we sparred bro, dude beat the dog p–s out of me bro like, I was like ‘Oh my god’ and the more aggressive I got the more he just started picking me to pieces, and I was like ‘Damn who the hell is this kid?’, I get done, we do four rounds, I was supposed to do I think six that day, we done four rounds and my trainer said ‘I seen enough’ … I looked at this dude and he’s in the mirror looking at himself and I go ‘Bro who are you?’ and he goes ‘I’m Terence Crawford’ … I was like ‘This guy is different’.”

Whilst he is faced with the toughest test of his tenure when he faces Canelo next month, history beckons for Crawford as victory over the Mexican great would see him become the first male fighter in the history of the sport to capture an undisputed championship at three weight classes.
