A former multi-weight ruler has declared he is ‘officially’ ready to take on Jake Paul.
Paul is a 28-year-old who has converted from being a YouTube star and rapper into a boxing sensation who has the whole world talking.
After initially fighting ageing mixed martial artists and former UFC champions, the American took a fight with professional boxer Tommy Fury and narrowly lost on points. Most recently he shared the ring with former world heavyweight champion and knockout artist Mike Tyson back in November.
The controversial fight went the distance and saw Paul win wide on points after not really throwing any heavy shots at the almost 60-year-old ‘Iron Mike.’
Speaking to MillCity Boxing, three-weight world champion James Toney expressed his annoyance at Paul’s emergence into the boxing world and called him out for a fight.
“It’s a damn shame. This punk comes to our sport and makes a mockery out of it, know what I’m saying.
“Everyone knows the Mike fight was bull**it, he wasn’t trying to knock him out. I’m not going to do what Mike did, I’m going to finish it. I’m going to take him out.”
He was then asked if his call-out was real.
“I don’t play, this s**t is for real. Everything I say and do is official. Everything I say and do I stand on it. This guy, he’s garbage, he can’t even spell fight.”
As keen as Toney is on the contest, Paul has much bigger, targetting the likes of Conor McGregor and recently even coming extremely close to landing a bout with Mexican superstar and active world champion, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
