Tim Bradley Names The World Champion Who Is The ‘Most Underappreciated’ Man In Boxing

While boxing often likes to hype up obvious talents across the weight divisions, Tim Bradley has given his backing to one man he thinks is rather underrated.

Bradley should know as a man who had 37 fights, won 33 of them and took on the likes of the legendary Manny Pacquiao three times, plus Jessie Vargas, Brandon Rios, Juan Manuel Marquez and Ruslan Provodnikov.

Speaking to FightHubTV, the American was reflecting on Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis’ most recent knockout win over Frank Martin earlier this month and compared it to what would have happened had the ‘under-appreciated’ Shakur Stevenson fought him.

“He wouldn’t beat him in that fashion, probably not. Shakur should fight Frank Martin but I don’t think he would beat him like that. Shakur would out-box him, different styles, Shakur is a fantastic fighter man, the most under-appreciated fighter in the game.

‘Tank’ is the most beloved. They love him because of his power, because of who he is, but it’s shameful to see how many people bash Shakur because of the skillset and what he brings.”

Bradley then admitted Stevenson’s last fight against Edwin De Los Santos back in November which he won on points wasn’t the best, while ‘Tank’ is now expected to try and unify the division with Vasiliy Lomachenko.

“It was boring, yeah, of course it was boring. There was a lot going on with him. I’m not making excuses. He should have performed better. Period.”

At just 26 years of age, Stevenson is already a three-weight world champion and makes most pundits pound-for-pound top ten list.

Stevenson will hope to perform better than he did last time out against Artem Harutyunyan on July 6th when he defends his WBC world lightweight title at the Prudential Center, Newark.
