Hall of Fame inductee Tim Bradley has revealed who he believes is the brand new face of boxing.
Bradley enjoyed an exceptional professional boxing career of his own, earning himself a spot in the International Boxing Hall of Fame back in 2022.
The California-native captured world titles at light-welterweight and welterweight during his tenure and would produce a number of legacy-defining victories over the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez.
After he was beaten by Pacquiao in the 37th and final bout of his career back in 2016, Bradley announced his retirement from the sport and would go on to work as a commentator and analyst for ESPN’s boxing coverage.
Speaking on his own YouTube channel recently, Bradley made no mistake in naming Shakur Stevenson as the ‘face of American boxing’ as he claims the unbeaten 28-year-old can go on to be more popular than former pound-for-pound superstar Floyd Mayweather.
“I feel like Shakur can be that face of American boxing that we’ve always had. we had Floyd Mayweather. I think he can be as popular as Floyd Mayweather, if not more popular than Floyd Mayweather.”
Stevenson made his long-awaited return to the spotlight last weekend when he put on a masterclass to defeat countryman Teofimo Lopez via unanimous decision to capture the WBO world super-lightweight title and become the fastest four-division world champion in boxing history.
Attention has now turned to who Stevenson could possibly take on next, with a clash against Britain’s Conor Benn one of the options.
