Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez has lost just twice in 66 fights – once to Floyd Mayweather and once to Dmitry Bivol.
The elite Mexican has never been put down in his career and is been dominant in the super-middleweight ranks, where he currently holds three of the four major titles and was previously undisputed.
There is a long list of fighters looking to challenge themselves against Canelo, and front and centre is Terence Crawford, who is willing to move up two weight divisions to make it happen.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Hall of Fame fighter Tim Bradley first urged Canelo to accept the fight with Crawford.
“Canelo, don’t run away. You already ran away from the Benavidez fight … Make the fight with Crawford. Everybody wants to see it. And it’s gonna give Crawford an opportunity to show you – show the entire world – his greatness.”
As for the concerns on Crawford packing on a further 14 pounds for the fight, Bradley isn’t worried due to Alvarez’ streak without a stoppage – his last was in 2021 against Caleb Plant.
“Everyone keeps talking about the weight – ‘oh, he gonna knock him out.’ When the hell was the last time he knocked somebody out? Big, little, small – he ain’t knocking nobody out … So y’all can quit with that, he ain’t knocking Crawford out.”
Finally, Bradley made his prediction for Crawford as a points winner.
“I woke up 3am and something told me to study Canelo and study Crawford. Crawford is about to beat the sh*t out of Canelo Alvarez. I’m letting you know right now. He’s about to beat the breaks off of Canelo Alvarez.”
“I guarantee Terence Crawford gonna come out with the W. Now, it ain’t gonna come by knockout, Canelo got a strong chin on him. But Canelo will get outboxed. He is not an aggressive Mexican fighter just coming forward, he not that dude, he’s a boxer. He’s calculated, very precise with his shots … He’s not gonna bully Crawford … Crawford’s gonna beat him up. Counterpunch. All that stuff gonna get countered. He’s gonna get pieced up.”
Alvarez is understood to be sitting down to explore his options for a May bout. One name on the table is that of IBF Super-middleweight World Champion William Scull.
