Tim Bradley isn’t one to mince his words when it comes to offering up his views on the current state of boxing.
The former two-weight world champion now works as an analyst and often critiques the politics of the sport having been such a prominent player himself.
Bradley doesn’t have much time for the less traditional side of boxing and as such has recently laid into Jake Paul, who he says isn’t good enough to be getting the pay-per-view attention he is currently enjoying.
“He’s surrounding himself with Terence Crawford and the [Amanda] Serranos of the world however he’s in the game just milking and scamming boxing and the people. He’s not that good people. I’m letting you know, he’s not good at all. He’s not a tremendous boxer. No.
And he’s picking and choosing who he wants to fight and I know you’re going to say everybody does that but when I’m hearing the WBA is talking about sanctioning him and Caesar Chavez Jr for a belt, I have a problem with that man.”
The YouTuber turned fighter has 10 wins and one defeat, that coming against Tommy Fury who was the first active pro boxer he faced. He has started his own promotional company with shows on DAZN having previously worked with Showtime.
He recently stopped former bare knuckle and UFC star Mike Perry to keep a controversial fight with heavyweight legend Mike Tyson in November alive after it was postponed on medical grounds earlier this year.
Some in the sport – including Shawn Porter and promoter Eddie Hearn – still don’t believe the bout will materialise. Paul will have options regardless, as post-Perry fight the president of the WBA said he was open to pitting him against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr for ‘a championship’, much to the distaste of most fans.
