Timothy Bradley has shared his verdict on a potential clash between Vergil Ortiz Jr and Errol Spence Jr.
Rumours of a showdown between the pair have began to circulate over recent weeks.
Ortiz currently reigns as the WBC interim light-middleweight champion, with his most recent defence coming against Uzbek star Israil Madrimov on February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
As for Spence, 35-year-old from Long Island has not fought since suffering the first defeat of his career against Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford two years ago. ‘The Truth’ was stopped in the ninth round of their bout which saw ‘Bud’ become the undisputed welterweight champion.
“I’m thinking about doing a homecoming party for him in Dallas and fight a top 10 guy. Then go after Fundora and then go after Crawford after he comes back down to 154 after he fights Canelo at 168.
“There’s a lot of options out there for Vergil. I’m excited. Imagine if we can put together a Vergil-Spence fight at Dallas Stadium at the Cowboys Stadium. That would sell out the place. I think that’s something to consider as well. There’s some good options for Vergil.”
Speaking on his own Youtube channel, Bradley sent a scathing message out to Spence, as he predicts a stoppage victory for Ortiz should the pair go on to face each other next.
“Seriously, you [Spence] probably feeling good, walking around, training and stuff, you know, you doing what you supposed to do, taking care of yourself and right, just keep it that way because you get in the ring with Vergil Ortiz man, that ain’t good man.
I know you was the big fish, you ain’t no longer the big fish bro, you ain’t the big fish no more, you might be one of them little guppies or something man, you ain’t no big fish no more man.
If you gonna come back you better do it right, you better get yourself a tune up, because if you come back and you fight Vergil Ortiz man, for sure, I’m putting money on Vergil Ortiz, he gonna stop you, he gonna stop you Spence I promise you.”
Spence was expected to return to the ring earlier this year, although a clash with Sebastian Fundora could not be made for reasons that remain unknown.
Ortiz is also being linked with a showdown with former unified welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, with the duo said to be interested in doing battle with each other in the future.
