Fans are still waiting for Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez to face his WBC mandatory challenger David Benavidez.
Canelo is the current undisputed super-middleweight champion but has shown little interest in facing the man many tip to dethrone him.
Speaking to Sean Zittel about the match-up, Hall of Famer Tim Bradley told Canelo to ‘grow some b*lls’ and face the ‘Mexican Monster’.
“I don’t give a s**t about Canelo and what he’s doing. At this point the amount of money that he’s asking for should tell you what he’s about, $200m just doesn’t make any sense, it’s just too much money.
After seeing Benavidez’ last fight at the higher weight class Canelo should be able to see something and feel confident enough and say ‘he’s not as good as I thought he was’.
Canelo needs to grow some b*lls, grow some damn b*lls. People need to tell Canelo to face Benavidez, face the number one contender for years now, fight Benavidez bro. What are we waiting on? You’re going to fight Berlanga or Eubank Jr, no disrespect to those guys, but they’re not Benavidez.”
Although may pundits are backing Benavidez to get his hand raised if the two do ever meet, Bradley still favours Canelo to get the win.
“I don’t believe Canelo thinks he can win the fight. I still think Canelo wins but he don’t believe that and that’s the reason he’s not stepped in the ring with him.”
It doesn’t look like Benavidez will be the man facing Canelo when he returns in September, with Chris Eubank Jr and Edgar Berlanga currently the two frontrunners.
