Like many boxing fans, Tim Bradley was a keen observer of the thrilling rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano this past weekend.
These two contemporary boxing greats first did battle in what is considered one of the best female fights of all time back in April 2022 at Madison Square Garden. It was a highly engaging contest with hundreds of punches thrown and plenty of aggression from both women.
Ultimately Taylor got the win via a 10-round split decision and retained her undisputed lightweight titles.
The rematch at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on the undercard of Mike Tyson versus Jake Paul was just as explosive as the first fight.
Taylor was wobbled early, and Serrano was cut badly by an accidental head clash to make it a bloody affair, but ultimately Taylor again got the nod with a unanimous points decision with all three judges scoring it 95-94, despite also having a point deducted.
Speaking to ProBox TV, Hall of Fame fighter Bradley gave his own scorecard and said it could have gone the other way.
“When I scored the fight I had it a draw, that’s what I had it, a draw, and if somebody should have won that fight, I actually thought Katie Taylor was going to win the fight and get robbed going in but I thought Serrano did enough to win the fight if anything on my scorecard.”
He was then pushed for an outright winner and went with the Puerto Rican but admitted he would be keen to see a trilogy fight.
“If I had to pick somebody, cause it was razor close, I thought that Serrano won the fight especially cause that point got taken away, but no arguments from me. I would love to see a third fight, no doubt about it.”
Carl Froch agreed with Bradley and said that he feels Serrano won the majority of the rounds, which could mean there is plenty of clamour for a third fight between the two.
