Oleksandr Usyk became the first man to defeat Tyson Fury earlier this month. With the pair set to run it back later this year, former two-weight world champion Tim Bradley has made it clear whether he thinks it will be repeat or revenge.
Usyk knocked Fury down on the way to a split decision victory to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four belt era.
A contractual rematch clause meant the loser would get a chance to avenge his loss, and just days after the fight ‘The Gypsy King’s promoter, Frank Warren, confirmed that his man would take his shot at redemption.
“The rematch will be in October, Tyson confirmed that yesterday. I told him to really think about it before he did it, but he wants it and he wants it badly and that’s where we are.”
Speaking to ProBox TV, Hall of Famer Bradley tipped Fury to get his hand raised before the first fight, but now believes that the Ukrainian has the Brit’s number and the outcome in the rematch will be the same again.
“I’ll tell you right now, in the rematch I’m picking Usyk. I think Usyk has his number, I think Usyk knows what he has to do now, I think he’s smart enough and I think he knows his weaknesses.
I think he’ll continue to come forward, think about this now, he backed up the bigger man all night, all night from the first round all the way to the end, think about that!”
After initially being touted for October, it now looks like the pair will collide again nearer the end of the year, giving enough time for both to fully recover.
