Tommy Fury will return to the ring following hand surgery on May 3 in Budpaest, Hungary.

The half-brother of two-time world heavyweight champion Tyson started off his campaign in the pro ranks as standard, building up a record in fights he was put in to win. Just two fights in, however, he took a break to film UK reality show Love Island, finding fame.

Though he returned to traditional boxing, Fury was soon lured in to the crossover scene by a big money against YouTuber-turned-fighter Jake Paul. The Brit became the first man to defeat Paul, who has since boxed 58-year-old Mike Tyson.

Fury doubled down on his chosen path when he faced UK star KSI in a Misfits promoted bout, again winning on points. Rematches against both big names were on the table, however Fury took an extended time out to recover from surgery on a longterm hand injury.

His comeback was set to be against former UFC star Darren Till, however ‘TNT’ pulled out due to threats of violence outside of the rules of the sport.

He will not return to the ring in Budapest against little known Kenan Hanjalic. The Bosnian has had just five contests since his debut in 2019, losing one, winning four and scoring three knockouts. He is 27-years-old and fights at heavyweight, though this bout is reported at cruiserweight over six rounds.

Whilst Fury is coming off a long lay-off, response to the bout on social media was largely negative, with one fan branding it ‘pathetic’ and another ’embarrassing,’ and there was reminders that Paul had offered mega money for a rematch which have seemingly been turned down. Fury’s brother, Roman, also competes on the card.
