A former opponent of Jake Paul is hoping to see him lose in brutal fashion when he steps up to fight Mike Tyson later in the year.

Tommy Fury has already squared up with YouTuber turned-pro boxer Paul. The pair came to blows back in February of 2023 in a contest billed as ‘The Truth’ – a scrappy fight at cruiserweight which took place in Saudi Arabia. Fury threw double the number of punches of his rival and, though he was knocked down, he saw out the fight with a solid jab to win a split decision.

Since the loss, Paul has put together a run of victories including a decision win over Nate Diaz and first-round stoppages of Andre August and Ryan Borland. Next up he will face former UFC fighter Mike Perry before taking on Tyson in November in a contest that was originally scheduled for July.

Ahead of that, Fury, who has been sidelined with a hand injury, spoke to FUROCITY about what he wants to see happen in the fight.

“I’m hoping Mike takes his head off, to be honest, but I don’t know, we’ll see, hopefully, that’s what happens but we’ll see. I don’t know how serious they’re taking it but it is what it is, we’ll see how it unfolds.”

He was then asked if he would fight Tyson if he won.

“He’s my idol from growing up. But I want to challenge young men who can challenge me properly. [I don’t respect it] Why are you preparing to beat a guy who is 60 years of age, one of the best to ever do it? It’s criminal, to be honest, I don’t know why it’s being allowed to happen. I hope both men come out unscathed.”

Paul’s fight with Tyson will take place over eight two-minute rounds and will be professionally sanctioned despite Tyson once saying he would never fight a YouTuber.
