Jake Paul is just weeks away from making his return to the ring.
The 28-year-old from Cleveland, Ohio will face former WBC world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in a cruiserweight contest at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Saturday June 28.
Paul’s last outing came against 58-year-old heavyweight icon Mike Tyson, who he defeated via unanimous decision in their controversial bout at the AT&T Stadium in Texas last November.
He also boasts victories over a number of MMA legends, including Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva to name a few.
‘The Problem Child’ has won all but one of his professional bouts, with his sole career defeat coming at the hands of Tommy Fury, who beat the American via split decision in February 2023.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Fury admitted that although he believes Chavez is more than capable of defeating Paul, he feels that the Mexican’s age could have a significant impact come fight night.
“I don’t know, it is what it is, but put it this way, if I can box circles round him, a former world champion who’s done 12 rounds with Canelo Alvarez and many great champions, he should be able to do one better, shouldn’t he? But listen, age is a killer isn’t it. He’s fighting someone past his pomp, way past his pomp.”
Paul has set his sights on securing himself a shot at a world title in the very near future, but the 28-year-old must defeat Chavez in impressive fashion if he is to achieve his career long dream of capturing world honours, against all odds.
