Canelo Alvarez has knocked out many fighters in his career.
The Mexican superstar has stopped the likes of Sergey Kovalev, Caleb Plant, Billy Joe Saunders, Amir Khan and James Kirkland, and is now in search of his next opponent.
Terence Crawford and David Benavidez are continuously linked to a fight with Alvarez, and a boxing legend has weighed in on how the match-ups may go.
That man is James Toney, who has been critical of Canelo in recent years, having ruled the super-middleweight division himself from 1993 to 1994.
Toney was asked how a potential fight between Canelo and Crawford would go by ES News and he confidently predicted a stoppage.
“Yep [Crawford wins]. By KO.”
He was equally as dismissive of Alvarez’s chances against Benavidez when speaking to FightHub TV, claiming that Benavidez would put his rival to sleep.
“Benavidez is a bad boy. He wants to fight, he’s trying to f**k you up. They are the type of fighters I like. Everyone knows how James Toney used to fight, we’re coming for the lights out.
Canelo has little nuts. That’s all it is, he’s scared to death, he is scared. Canelo knows that if he fights Benavidez then he’s getting knocked out – he’s going to sleep! It doesn’t matter when he fights him, if he fights him right now he’ll steam roll him.”
Benavidez is currently campaigning up at light-heavyweight and is slated for a fight against David Morrell in January.
