James Toney has predicted the outcome of a potential clash between Roy Jones Jr and Floyd Mayweather.
The legendary duo have been going back and forth with each other over the last couple of weeks, sparking rumours that a showdown between the pair could be on the horizon.
Jones has not fought as a professional since he was beaten by MMA star Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis back in 2023, although the 56-year-old from Pensacola has left the door open for a return to the ring since then.
As for Mayweather, the five-division world champion announced his retirement from the sport back in 2017 after he defeated Conor McGregor in August of that year, meaning his career came to an end with a perfect 50-0 record.
In an interview with Fight Hype, Toney shared his thoughts on the current situation between former rival Jones and Mayweather, before offering his own prediction into a potential clash between the pair.
“I saw it, I saw it. I don’t know how it happened but if Floyd fights him Floyd’s 0 is gonna go.”
Toney was then asked to reveal who he believes was a better fighter between prime versions of the duo, having shared the ring with Jones back in 1994.
“Roy Jones. The reason why is because Roy fought everyone in their prime, Floyd fought everyone after their prime.”
Jones handed Toney the first defeat of his professional career when they clashed at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas back in November of 1994, capturing his fellow countryman’s IBF world super-middleweight title in the process.
