Tony Bellew prides himself on being something of a boxing historian and remains a keen observer years after his own retirement.

Bellew’s record saw him stop plenty of his opponents with his own punching power. Most famously he twice finished a veteran David Haye up at heavyweight in a pair of high profile fights in 2017 and 2018 that drew big audiences on Sky Sports Box Office.

Before that, his biggest success came in 2016 at the home of his beloved Event Football Club when he defeated Ilunga Makabu to lift the WBC Cruiserweight World Title. The fight at Goodison Park wasn’t without drama, as Bellew himself was knocked down early but rallied to stop his man inside three rounds.

In his final fight. Bellew was on the receiving end of a knockout blow.. The Evertonian stepped up to challenge unbeaten and undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and, after an impressive effort in the early rounds, he eventually tired and got caught and stopped by the Ukrainian who then went on to become undisputed up at heavyweight.

Now in reply to a post showing George Foreman‘s best knockouts, Bellew has replied to hail him as the biggest hitter in the sport.

“Biggest puncher boxing has ever seen without doubt!!”

Foreman, who recently named Ron Lyle as the biggest puncher he faced, famously came back after a 10 year layoff to win the world heavyweight title from Michael Moorer with a superb knockout aged 45 after previously defeating the likes of Ron Lyle, Ken Norton and Joe Frazier all by stoppage.
