Retired world champion Tony Bellew has revealed what he believes the outcome will be when Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn clash.
The fierce rivals are set to lock horns at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26 in what has been described by many as one of the biggest fights in British boxing.
The fight will reignite the bitter feud between the Benn and Eubank families, which dates back over 30-years following Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr’s intense rivalry which saw them face each other in 1990 and 1993 respectively.
A bout between Eubank Jr and ‘The Destroyer’ was originally pencilled in to take place in October 2022 before it was revealed that Benn had tested positive for a banned substance in the lead up. The 28-year-old subsequently gave up his BBBofC license, although it has been reported that it will be reinstated ahead of the rescheduled bout.
In an interview with Sporting Talk, Bellew weighed in on what he believes will happen in the highly anticipated showdown, as he backs Benn to ‘get the job done’ in side six rounds.
“I think this fight is two fights over 12 rounds, it’s a case of two fights in one. First six, I think Conor is going to be so ferocious, so brutal, so vicious – I think he gets the job done then.”
Benn is tasked with moving up to middleweight when he faces Eubank, having spent the majority of his career campaigning at welterweight. However, there are concerns over how much the 35-year-old has left in the tank, as he approaches the final chapter of what many believe has been an underwhelming professional career, in comparison to that of his father Chris Eubank Sr.
