Former world cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew believes there are just two heavyweights on the planet that are capable of defeating Moses Itauma.
The 20-year-old from Chatham, Kent racked up his 13th consecutive victory in the process, with 11 of these wins ending inside the scheduled distance, proving himself to be one of the most exciting prospects in the sport since making his debut back in 2023.
Itauma is expected to move on to a potential world title shot at some stage within the next 12 to 18 months, as he bids to become one of the youngest world heavyweight champions in the history of the sport.
In an interview with eSportBets.com, Tony Bellew didn’t hesitate to reveal the only two heavyweights that he believes Itauma wouldn’t be capable of beating, as he pays homage to the exceptional talent of the unbeaten 20-year-old.
“There’s nobody in the world right now, apart from Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury who Itauma couldn’t pick holes in and beat. Apart from those two, he’s gonna nail anyone. He’s gonna catch anyone. The big fact is, will they nail him first? Only Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury are capable of making him miss and making him pay. All the other fighters in the division, he will catch them.”
The 38-year-old became the undisputed heavyweight champion for the second time in his career last month when he stopped Daniel Dubois in the fifth round of their historic rematch at Wembley Stadium in London.
A potential clash between Itauma and Fury remains unlikely to happen however, after ‘The Gypsy King’ announced his shock retirement from the sport in January, just days after he was beaten by Usyk in their rematch on December 21. Should he return, it is more likely he faces Anthony Joshua.
