Dave Allen soon steps into the ring with the dangerous Arslanbek Makhmudov and Tony Bellew has explained how he thinks the fight will go.

Allen is a much-loved British heavyweight who has had a hugely up-and-down career. He has never challenged for a world title but has fought the likes of Luis Ortiz, Dillian Whyte, Tony Yoka, David Price and Frazer Clarke. His best wins have been KOs over Lucas Browne and Johnny Fisher last time out, having drawn the first fight in December 2024.

The ‘White Rhino’ now steps up to take on the 6ft5in Russian Makhmudov in Sheffield next month who has 20 wins from 22 fights, with 19 by way of KO. He lost to Agit Kabayel by TKO back in December 2023 but has beaten the likes of Mariusz Wach and Carlos Takam.

Speaking to FightLens, former cruiserweight world champion Bellew foresees Allen getting a late stoppage victory.

“Makhmudov is dangerous. We’ve seen he can be out-fought and outwitted and hurt himself by Agit Kabayel. But he’s a big, dangerous lump. This is going to go one of two ways.

“Either he comes in and give’s Dave some licks and knocks him out pretty quick, or, my version of events, what I think will happen is Dave Allen will get rid of this fella in about seven or eight rounds but he’ll take a few, and he’ll have to absorb some, and then I think Dave might outman him down the stretch and stop him late.”

If Allen, who is now 33 and had 33 fights, comes out with a win, he has been told he could land a huge fight with the likes of former unified world champion Anthony Joshua.
