Tony Bellew has offered some words of wisdom to Fabio Wardley ahead of an official announcement of a rematch with Daniel Dubois.

These two British heavyweights put on a superb contest back in May when they fought hard over for the WBO world title, held by Wardley since November 2025. It was Dubois’s opportunity to win back a world title in his first fight since losing the IBF strap to Oleksandr Usyk.

Despite the challenger being down twice in the early rounds, Wardley failed to fully capitalise and ended up being stopped himself in the 11th, which many think was a little late given the punishment he was shipping.

Speaking to FightLens, Bellew had one key bit of advice for the Ipswich man if he is to once again share the ring with ‘DDD.’

“He’s also got to now realise when I’ve got a man hurt and on the floor twice in a fight, I’ve got to finish him. Don’t play with your food, because it can come back to really hurt you. It’s unfortunate, very good fighter.”

Dubois will be alive to the early threat of Wardley when the two do meet again, and will benefit from the activity this time around.

Although Wardley has triggered his contractual right to a rematch, no official date has been set. Promoter Frank Warren, who represents both heavyweights, has said the second fight could take place this Autumn.

Whether Dubois retains or Wardley manages to upset the odds and snatch his belt back, the winner will be tasked with mandatory challenger Moses Itauma, assuming the young Brit does not pursue a different belt.
