As the current IBF champion, Daniel Dubois is a man many heavyweights are keen to face.
Dubois is the newest champion in the banner division and he defended his IBF belt in superb style last time out.
That fight was against Anthony Joshua in front of a record crowd at Wembley Stadium and saw him put the former two-time champion down three times before ultimately stopping him in the fight.
As such he is looking for his next opponent and speaking to talkSPORT, trainer Billy Nelson suggested that his man Martin Bakole is more than ready to take on Dubois next.
“Everybody fears him. When do you ever hear any of these top heavyweights wanting to fight Martin Bakole? Not one guy has ever called him out. Ever.”
“We will [soon] be mandatory for Daniel Dubois who we would fight in a heartbeat. He’s looking for an opponent in February, we’ll take that in a heartbeat now, we’ll sign that now, no problem.”
He then added some extra spice by saying he is also willing to have a considerable side bet that Bakole would win.
“I know Frank Warren has been shouting out some side bets recently. We’ll have a bet with him on that fight, who wins that, we’ll bet him the £200k he’s talking about, we’ll have a bet with him on that no problem.”
Highly ranked with the IBF, Bakole is another form man in the division. His last fight saw him beat the highly-rated American prospect Jared Anderson inside the distance after knocking him down early. He has also beaten the likes of Carlos Takam and considered himself ‘the most avoided man in boxing’.
He is scheduled for purse bids for a fight with Agit Kabayel, the winner being awarded the mandatory position for Dubois.
