Two-Weight Champion Wants To Face Terence Crawford AND Gervonta Davis: “Big Dog And Mini-Me”

Gervonta Davis and Terence Crawford are two of the biggest and best fighters in the sport.

‘Tank’ Davis is must-see TV having stopped 28 of his 30 opponents, often giving away rounds but stalking his prey until he sees an opportunity to let some of the most well-timed power punches in the sport loose.

Crawford has as strong a case as anyone for being the best fighter on the planet, pound-for-pound, having held world titles in three divisions and been undisputed in two. The switch-hitter from Omaha, Nebraska will next attempt to add a fourth division – 154 – to the mix.

Despite there being two divisions in between the superstars, Teofimo Lopez wants to fight both. In a video shared by Fight Hub TV, the two-weight world champion made that clear.

“Yeah I am [interested in the Tank fight]. People are gonna say it’s for the money… you f***ing idiots, bro it’s prizefighting for a reason. Y’all don’t understand boxing. Oh he’s scared of Tank, then he wants to fight Tank for the money. Make up your minds. If not, we’re getting the big dog, the mac daddy of them all, and that’s Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford.”

Lopez then detailed the order in which he’d like to face them.

“I’ll go up to 54. I’ll go up two weight-classes. It’s been done, why can’t Teofimo do it? … I’ll take Crawford first, because Crawford is on his way out. Get him first, he’s the lineal champion still, take him out and then we go back to the little mini-me, and that’s Tank … Anything’s possible with god.”

‘Tank’ has fought as high as 140 where Lopez currently holds the WBO World title. Crawford, with his title shot against Israil Madrimov set for August 3, seems to have no desire to drop back down to welterweight in the future, so 26-year-old Lopez’ would indeed have to move up two divisions for the fight.

Unfortunately for him, both men have other plans. ‘Tank’ Davis is being pushed by fans to enter negotiations with fellow lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson whereas Crawford has made it clear he himself wants to move up two weight classes to face Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez after the Madrimov bout.
