Mike Tyson ‘Doesn’t Like’ Terence Crawford Fighting Canelo And Names Who He Should Face Instead

Mike Tyson has urged Terence Crawford to reconsider facing Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez.

The 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska is due to challenge Canelo in September in what could be an opportunity for ‘Bud’ to become a three-weight undisputed champion.

As it stands, Alvarez holds the unified WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight titles, but it was confirmed over the weekend that he will be facing IBF champion William Scull on May 3 as he bids to become a two-time undisputed champion at 168lbs.

Crawford has already been undisputed at super-lightweight and welterweight, with all eyes set on Canelo’s bout against Scull which will determine if the American will get the chance to become the first male fighter in history to win all four titles across three weight classes.

Speaking on the It Is What It Is Podcast, ‘Iron’ Mike outlined his concerns about ‘Bud’ stepping up to 168lbs.

“You know, I don’t like that fight. I don’t like that fight. It’s just too much weight. He had a close fight with the last guy he fought [Madrimov] cause this guy was big and he was awkward.”

The heavyweight icon then named a number of opponents that he would like to see Crawford face instead.

“I want to see him fight one of the Charlo brothers. Or the young brother from Philadelphia, I forgot his name. Ennis. And I want to see Boots Ennis fight one of the Charlo brothers then come back down [in weight.]”

Though inactivity plagues both Jermell and Jermall Charlo, Crawford has been linked with a fight against undefeated Jaron Ennis for a couple of years. It now looks highly unlikely that the IBF welterweight champion will be given a chance to face the 37-year-old due to his match-up with Canelo, at least in the near future.
