Tyson Fury has revealed he is willing to come out of retirement to face Oleksandr Usyk once more.
‘The Gypsy King’ has been away from the sport since early January when he announced he was hanging up the gloves. It’s not the first time he has done this, and his announcement was met with scepticism from the boxing world.
This latest retirement came soon after his December 2024 unanimous decision points loss to Usyk. It was the second time in a year ‘The Gypsy King’ had failed to be the Ukrainian. First time he lost his WBC belt via split decision, and second time he failed to win the three unified titles Usyk held at that time having earlier relinquished the IBF in order to honour the rematch.
Usyk is now going after a second undisputed heavyweight crown when he takes on the current IBF ruler Daniel Dubois in July in a rematch of their August 2023 fight, which he won by KO.
“I have two options. Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, [I would prefer] Tyson Fury.”
Speaking recently on social media, Fury agreed to have a trilogy with Usyk at ‘anytime’, but that it would have to take place on UK soil, having twice fought the Ukrainian in Saudi Arabia.
“Beat the f***er 2 times and the world knows the truth. Anytime any place [sucker]. UK next time, 100k people.”
Fury has also recently been seen in the gym with his trainer SugarHill Steward, adding further to the likelihood that he is gearing up for a return to action.
