Tyson Fury Coach Andy Lee Finally Speaks Out On Corner ‘Chaos’ In Usyk Fight: “It Had To Be Said”

Tyson Fury‘s corner in his fight with Oleksandr Usyk came under a lot of criticism.

Fury was defeated by Usyk in their undisputed heavyweight title back in May, with the Ukrainian narrowly coming out on top via split decision.

During the fight, fans voiced their concern about the amount of voices that Fury had in the corner, receiving different instructions from each of his corner team, that consisted of Sugar Hill Steward, Andy Lee, and Tyson’s father John Fury.

Lee has now broken his silence on how things transpired on the night. When asked by BoxNation about the ‘chaos’ in the corner, Lee feels it has been blown out of proportion.

“Nothing went wrong in the corner. It wasn’t chaos. You’ve got a dad in the corner, and John was saying a lot of good things. He was giving good advice but he’s also coming from the perspective of a dad who’s watching his son in the fight.

Then you’ve got SugarHill who is always the main voice in the corner who Tyson listens to anyway. They have their shorthand phrases and things they work on in the gym that they know, so Tyson understands what Sugar is saying and Sugar knows Tyson. Tyson will understand what Sugar says even if nobody else does in terms of the phrases he uses.

My input was round 11, round 12, you have to win the last two rounds. I had to say that as I knew Tyson was down on the cards. I’m not sure everyone was aware, I was told he was down on the cards. I said you’re down, you need to win. It had to be said.”

With the rematch between Fury and Usyk set for December, ‘The Gypsy King’ has recently made a big decision and revealed whether his father John will remain in his corner.
