Tyson Fury has had a storied career that has seen him fight some of the best heavyweights on the planet.

Unfortunately for him, last time out he took his first ever professional loss at the hands of the former two-weight undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.

In a close 12-round fight, Fury was narrowly out-pointed having been given a 10-count in round nine after taking a huge right hand.

Before that, he had rarely struggled with opponents, including Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora and even beat the long-ruling unified champion Wladimir Klitschko in his own backyard back in 2015.

He might be best remembered for his trilogy with fearsome American puncher and former WBC champion Deontay Wilder. Speaking to Undisputed, he reflected on the contests and had high praise for ‘The Bronze Bomber.’

“It was a difficult task. But after facing him the first time, it was much easier than I anticipated that it might be. Other than knockdowns, I was just boxing my way to ultimate victory.

With Wilder, there is always that chance of getting tapped just once, and it’s all over. I think Wilder in his day back then when I fought him, he was one of the most dangerous prize fighters that ever lived.

Everyone has their sell-by-date, there is no harm in that, but he was a very formidable opponent. One touch and it was over.”

Fury will be hoping to repeat his performance in the victorious second and third fights with Wilder when he steps into the ring with Usyk in December and attempts to become a three-time world champion.

Wilder, meanwhile, is still pondering his comeback after two back-to-back losses against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, who stopped him inside five rounds. In those fights fans agree he hasn’t shown the same ferocity and fearlessness that led him to an incredible 42 fights from 43 wins.
