Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are just hours away from their highly anticipated grudge match.

The domestic rivals are set to reignite a bitter feud between their respective families when they lock horns in a middleweight showdown at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26. The fathers of both men, Chris Sr and Nigel Benn, shared the ring twice back in the 90’s in one of British boxing’s greatest rivalries.

They were originally due to fight back in October 2022, but the fight was cancelled just days before it was due to take place after it was revealed that Benn had failed two drugs tests in the lead-up. The 28-year-old subsequently relinquished his BBBoC license, with his last two outings against Peter Dobson and Rodolfo Orozco taking place in the USA.

One fighter who has shown an interest in the impending domestic showdown is former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, who called time on his storied professional career at the beginning of the year.

Speaking to TNT Sports, ‘The Gypsy King’ gave an honest assessment of both fighters chances, although he admits it all comes down to weight and at 160lbs, two weight classes above Benn’s natural welterweight limit, he expects Eubank to prevail.

“It’s a weight category thing, if it’s at 10.5 stone it’s going to be Conor Benn, if it’s at middleweight then probably Chris Eubank Jr.”

Benn weighed in at 156.4lbs whilst Eubank missed weight by just 0.05lbs and will have to pay a $500,000 fine. He will have a second weigh-in today where he cannot exceed 170lbs without incurring another financial penalty. As of writing he has yet to turn up for the rehydration weigh-in.
