Tyson Fury Sums Up Chances Of Wladimir Klitschko Returning To Win A World Title In Just 2 Words

Tyson Fury beat Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 to end a 15-year reign at the top of the heavyweight division. Is he interested in running it back a decade on?

Fury upset the odds in Germany with a unanimous decision victory to become unified world champion. The Ukrainian would fight just once more, a 2017 knockout loss to Anthony Joshua, before hanging up the gloves.

He has reportedly long considered a comeback and now, at 48-years-old, is keen on attempting to break George Foreman’s record of the division’s oldest ever champion.

That recently almost took the form of a title shot against Daniel Dubois, but Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh has also announced he would like to make the Fury rematch should the Brit manage to beat Oleksandr Usyk this month for the WBA, WBO and WBC belts – something he couldn’t do back in May.

Speaking to Chris Mannix, Fury doesn’t buy into the idea that Klitschko could come back and break the record.

“He’s finished.”

Elaborating, ‘The Gypsy King’ believes Wlad retired at the right time and questions ‘what he has to offer now.’

“Thoughts on it? I’ve not really had much to be fair. The guy’s 49-years-old. He’s been out of the ring since 2017. I’m not sure what more he’s got to offer. He was finished seven years ago. I’m not sure what he’s got to offer now … He must be coming back for a few pounds.”

Asked if he would be interested in the fight which Alalshikh seems so set on, the Morecambe man said ‘why not?’

“I’ll cross all these bridges next year. Whatever’s available after I’ve beaten Usyk, I’ll cross all them bridges. Whatever’s the next fight… If they want to pay me to beat up an old man, 50-years-old, I’m all up for that. If not then we’ll fight whoever’s available next.”

Fury takes on Usyk on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
