Tyson Fury Sums Up Oleksandr Usyk’s Boxing Ability In 3 Words As He Targets Trilogy Fight

Tyson Fury continues to chase a third fight with Oleksandr Usyk in 2026.

‘The Gypsy King’ was unbeaten the first time he fought Usyk back in May 2024. He was on a fine run as WBC champion that had seen him twice beat Deontay Wilder and draw once with the fearsome American puncher.

He had also beaten Dillian Whyte, Otto Wallin and Derek Chisora, though many believe he was lucky to get away with a points victory after he took on former MMA champion and boxing novice Francis Ngannou.

The first fight with Usyk saw him outboxed over 12, but also took a huge shot in the ninth that nearly sent him to the canvas. The rematch back in December 2024 saw Usyk again dominate with hand and feet and take a unanimous points win.

That led Fury to announce his retirement back in January. In recent weeks, he has begun to talk about a trilogy with Usyk in April 2026, though many fans question the need, given he was soundly beaten in the first two and is not getting any younger.

Speaking to Boxing King Media, Fury showed some rare humility when asked about the quality of the Ukrainian two-time undisputed heavyweight champion, branding him ‘a special talent.’

“Usyk’s a special talent. He’s a good boxer.”

Many people had hoped that after the Usyk loss, Fury would finally sign a contract to fight long-time British rival Anthony Joshua, who also suffered defeat last time out when he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois last September and has not yet returned to action.
