Tyson Fury was recently asked to predict a fantasy fight between two heavyweight greats in Oleksandr Usyk and Mike Tyson.
Both of these heavyweights are small in size in comparison to many of their peers in the division. Usyk started his career at cruiserweight and, after becoming undisputed champion, he moved up to the banner division where he established in the same fashion.
Amongst the big men, he has beaten Derek Chisora, stopped Daniel Dubois, and bested Anthony Joshua and Fury twice on points.
As for Tyson, he was a much-feared knockout artist whose brute force saw him become the youngest ever heavyweight world champion in history, aged just 20. He knocked out his first 19 opponents, 12 of them inside the first round, and initially retired in 2005.
Speaking to Mail Sport Boxing, Fury was asked who would win if the best versions of Usyk and Tyson fought each other.
“That’s a tough one. Both prime? I’m going to go with my boy Mike.”
Tyson returned to the ring for an exhibition with Roy Jones Jr back in 2022, and though he vowed that was it, he then fought professionally again in November last year when he came back for to face Jake Paul over eight two-minute rounds. He showed every bit of his 58 years and was soundly beaten on points by Paul.
