Tyson Fury took some important conclusions from watching Derek Chisora fight Deontay Wilder last weekend.

The fight was a clash of two veterans who are both now in their forties. Both men have been in the sport for many years, with Wilder once ruling the division as WBC king and Chisora always being known for giving anyone and everyone a hard time in the ring, despite never owning a world title of his own.

It was a bruising 12-round affair that eventually saw Wilder come out on top, but it was also clear that both men, in their respective 50th contests, were past their best.

Chisora admitted afterwards that he can no longer carry on and is unlikely to return to the ring, while ‘The Bronze Bomber’ called out Anthony Joshua.

Speaking to Inside the Ring, Fury said after watching the fight that he has concerns for his own boxing future.

“By the time the fight comes around on Saturday, I’ll have been out the ring 16 months. At 37 years old, 16 months is a long time. I have a little bit of stuff to think about in my own mind and see how I am.

“After watching Deontay and Chisora the other night, it was hard to watch for me. It was sad. Heartbreaking. I’d never seen two men slide as much in my life as them two.

“I’m thinking, am I f***ing next? Is this me? I said to the boys, if I’m even 10% as bad as those guys in my fight, take me out to the field and shoot me. Put me out to pasture.”

Fury returns to the ring this weekend against Arslanbek Makmudov in his first fight since his second consecutive loss to Oleksandr Usyk back in December 2024.
