Tyson Fury has claimed that Oleksandr Usyk is lucky to still have an unbeaten record.

Fury, too, had an unbeaten record when he stepped into the ring in May 2024. Usyk was in the other corner, and the undisputed four-belt heavyweight championship of the world was on the line. It was a close 12-round battle, largely decided by one huge shot in the 9th round, which sent Fury wheeling around the ring and taking a standing 8 count.

After Usyk won by split decision and the pair went into an immediate rematch. Usyk came out victorious again, this time taking a unanimous decision on the cards. A matter of a few weeks later, Fury announced his retirement and so far has remained away from the sport.

Usyk has not yet fought again, but is eyeing a second undisputed fight, this time with currentt IBF ruler Daniel Dubois. The fight is strongly expected to take place at Wembley in July, and it will be the second time the two have fought.

First time, Dubois lost by KO by not before having Usyk down with a body shot, which was ruled to be low by the referee.

Speaking to Sky Sports Boxing, ‘The Gypsy King’ has suggested Usyk should have lost that night.

“I thought he lost [to Dubois] and he quit so he’s a little, quitting [coward]. And once you quit once you’lll always quit, just like we saw with Dubois. He quit too, so that was two quitters fighting each other. It’s tough to say somebody’s quit but Usyk quit with a body shot and rattled around the floor like a little [coward] for five minutes and the other one quit with a jab. But the truth is the truth and that’s it.”

Many are hoping that Fury will come out of retirement, as he has done a couple of times before, for a final showdown with fellow Brit and former world champion Anthony Joshua.
