One of the many talking points from the first fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk was the corner work of Fury’s team.
The historic undisputed fight between the two then-unbeaten fighters took place back in May and saw Usyk run out a narrow points winner. It was close across all 12 rounds, with both men in with a chance of winning right up until the end.
When the camera went to Fury’s corner in between the later rounds, it seemed as though conflicting instructions were being given out by his trainers SugarHill and Andy Lee and father John. Many in the sport feel that the ‘chaos’ must change should the Brit have a chance in the upcoming rematch.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Steward was asked to comment on the matter and said he didn’t hear any of it.
“People ask about the corner. I have tunnel vision. I’m only focused on Tyson Fury. Maybe you heard something, everybody’s heard something I haven’t heard. Remember I haven’t saw the fight yet. I’m watching Tyson, paying attention to Tyson only.
He was asked if it was as confusing as many people have said in the aftermath.
“I don’t know. I’m paying attention to Tyson Fury only. I don’t know how to answer that unless I give you a false statement.”
