Tyson Fury Asks Former World Champion To Join His Usyk Camp: “I Know What Needs Rectifying”

Tyson Fury is slowly ramping up the intensity of his preparations for his huge rematch against Oleksandr Usyk later this year.

And he needs to. When ‘The Gypsy King’ first fought Usyk for the undisputed world heavyweight title back in May, he came up short and took his first professional loss.

It was an enthralling contest that saw both men have periods on success but it was the Ukrainian who did just enough and secured a split decision win after a particularly standout ninth round.

The men will renew their hostilities in December when three of the four major belts will be on the line after Usyk had to relinquish the IBF title in order to take the rematch.

Former two-weight world champion and long-time Fury friend Billy Joe Saunders has now revealed to talkSPORT that he’s been asked to be part of the camp in order to help with preparations.

“You’ve got to give him credit. I know there’s a lot of speculation about the ninth round, but he didn’t go down and he was still on his feet fighting.

He’s asked me to go away for training camp with him, so I’m delighted to say I will be going away with him.

I know that, even when it came to sparring and other bits and bobs, there was stuff missing out of it that needs to be rectified this time.”

Saunders is confident that with a good training camp his fellow Brit can get the victory.

“I believe Tyson will win the next fight. And I believe that he will win by knockout as well.”

As for Saunders, he last fought in May 2021 when he suffered his first professional loss to Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. Despite often promising a return to the ring, he has not yet made his comeback.
