Tyson Fury Now Admits Huge Error He Made In First Oleksandr Usyk Fight: “I Was Doing It A Lot”

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk have an epic rematch coming up before the end of the year to decide once more who can claim world heavyweight supremacy.

These two then-unbeaten fighters first came together in May when it was Usyk who managed to take a points win after imposing himself a little more, particularly in the ninth when he landed the best shot of the fight, scoring a knockdown and a 10-8 round.

The win meant he became undisputed king in a second division having also done so down at cruiserweight, which matched the achievements of Evander Holyfield who did the same thing, although not in the four-belt era.

Fury has since claimed he was having too much fun in the ring and took his eye off the ball, which is why he got caught and ultimately lost, while Usyk has said ‘only in your dreams’ will Fury beat him by stoppage this time.

Despite some criticism for what was perceived to be confusing and chaotic corner work, he also previously vowed to stand by his same team in the rematch on December 21 and said in one interview that he will be making ‘no drastic changes’.

Speaking to Pound 4 Pound with Kamaru & Henry, however, he has now gone back on that and admitted he will make adjustments to how he approaches the fight.

“The adjustments I need to make is less complacency and a little bit more focused. Less clowning. I was clowning a lot in the ring, messing about, showboating. I was enjoying it too much and I think I became complacent and got caught.

“Heavyweight boxing it only takes one punch and I got caught and got a standing count, a 10-8 round, other than that if I can keep my focus and be on my game for the full distance if it goes that far then I don’t see why I don’t get the decision this time around. But don’t get me wrong, if the knockout comes early I’ll take it.”

Whether Fury wins or loses, there is already talk that Anthony Joshua is waiting around for what would be a huge all-British clash.
