Mike Tyson Names His Current Favourite Fighters

Mike Tyson remains a keen observer of boxing and has named the fighters he likes the most from the current scene.

Tyson still holds the record for being the youngest ever world heavyweight champion at 20. He had a legendary career and fought names like Frank Bruno and Lennox Lewis, and as recently as November 2024, was in the ring facing Jake Paul, despite him being less than half his age.

He lost that on a wide points decision and said after that would be the last time he ever stepped into the ring for a professional contest, though he recently had his say on two other veterans fighting for a second time.

Speaking to Ring Magazine, Tyson was asked who he most likes watching and listen a few top names.

“I like Stevenson, I like Keyshawn Davis, I like Crawford, I like Inoue, the Japanese guy, I like the oldest Charlo brother. The middleweight is a real good fighter.”

He then saved his highest praise for Undefeated Mexican-American David Benavidez.

“And listen, you got to remember the ‘Mexican Monster’, he’s been done dirty, he should have had these big fights, that’s something he’s gunna have over boxing – they didn’t give him the good fights. If he don’t get the money he supposed to have after boxing, it’s cause boxing screwed him. It’s cause he’s too good and they didn’t want to give him a break.”

Benavidez has held world championships in two weight classes. He is the current WBA and WBC light heavyweight champion and is scheduled to move up to cruiserweight to fight Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez for the WBA and WBO titles on May 2.
