Mike Tyson is one of the most iconic heavyweights of his generation.

Particularly in the early years of his career, the American was unstoppable and had a fearsome reputation that often had opponents mentally beaten before they even got into the ring with him.

His first 19 fights were all done within six rounds, and he knocked out his first 12 opponents in the very first round on his way to becoming the youngest-ever world heavyweight champion aged just 20.

That is a record that still stands today, but later in his career Tyson took defeats at the hands of the likes of Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis.

Although he initially retired in 2005 after back-to-back defeats to lower-level men, he made a return to the ring last November, only to take a wide points loss to a man half his age in Jake Paul.

Speaking on Boxing Zone, Tyson explained what made his hero Muhammad Ali so different.

“See, that’s the only thing about Ali, we were watching him get beaten as an old man, even as a kid you see he’s not going to quit, you have to kill him. He won’t quit.”

Getting emotional, ‘Iron Mike’ had more praise for Ali’s determination in the ring.

“Ali’s a giant. There’s no way other fighters can match him. He’d die for this s**t. I’m not going to die for this.”

The respect was mutual between the two heavyweights with Ali once claiming that Tyson would have been too much for him at any point in his career.
