There Is Only One Fighter Mike Tyson Says Would Have Beaten Him In His Prime

When debating the most fearsome heavyweight in boxing history, many people believe it to be Mike Tyson.

Tyson turned professional in 1985 and his massive power was evident from the very start, as he won his first 19 fights by knockout, 12 of them coming inside the very first round.

‘Iron Mike’ went on to defeat Trevor Berbick by stoppage to become the youngest world heavyweight champion in history at the age of 20, a record that still stands to this day, and further knockout victories over fighters such as Larry Holmes and Michael Spinks led to Tyson becoming undisputed.

During those prime years, a lot of people believe that Tyson may have been unstoppable, but he himself has named one fighter who he thinks would have got the better of him even at his very best.

Speaking to ThisIs50, ‘Iron Mike’ said that he would have come up short against the legendary Muhammad Ali.

“There is no man like him, there just isn’t. Everything we have he supersedes us in. He was an animal, he looked more like a model than a boxer.

“He’s like a Tyrannosaurus Rex with a pretty face, he’s just mean and evil, he’ll take you to deep waters and drown you. He’s very special. The best. Nobody beats Ali. I can’t beat that man, hell no. No way.”

Ali is arguably the biggest name in the history of the sport, becoming a multiple-time world heavyweight champion after wins against the likes of George Foreman and Joe Frazier in some of the biggest fights of all time.

Ali once returned the favour by saying he wouldn’t have been able to defeat Tyson, but he did name one fighter who he thinks would have.
