Heavyweight legend Mike Tyson has urged pound-for-pound superstar Terence Crawford to face one man in particular next.

‘Bud’ Crawford extended his unblemished professional record to 42-0 on September 13 when he defeated Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in their historic showdown in Las Vegas to capture the undisputed super-middleweight championship.

The 38-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska put on a stellar display against the Mexican icon to become the first male fighter in boxing history to win an undisputed world championship in three weight classes, something he has already accomplished at super-lightweight and welterweight.

Rumours are already circulating about what could come next for the pound-for-pound great, with reports suggesting that he could make a return to the ring in early 2026.

In an interview with Hardrock Bet, former undisputed heavyweight champion Tyson admitted that, whilst a rematch with Canelo may be a good move, he would be interested in seeing ‘Bud’ lock horns with unbeaten super-welterweight star Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis next.

“I want to see Crawford fight Jaron Ennis Boots. I want to see Boots take a test.”

‘Boots’ Ennis has established himself as one of the most exciting fighters in the sport over the last 18 months, with many backing the 28-year-old to enter the pound-for-pound rankings in the near future.

Having previously held the unified WBA and IBF welterweight titles, Ennis made his super-welterweight debut last month with a destructive second round stoppage victory over Portugal’s Uisma Lima at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, capturing the WBA interim world title in the process.

The 28-year-old is now expected to face countryman Vergil Ortiz Jr next, with reports claiming that the unbeaten duo are in the process of finalising a deal to face each other in the first quarter of 2026.

As for Crawford, he has previously ruled out a return to 154, making a fight against Ennis unlikely unless the younger man targets another move up.
