Undefeated Former World Champion Tells Fans He’s Retired At 26: “Stop Asking Me When I’ll Be Back”

An unbeaten former world champion has once again confirmed he is officially retired from the sport, much to the disappointment of his fans.

Following the controversial events prior to his scheduled WBO lightweight title defence back in June, Virginia’s Keyshawn Davis sensationally announced that he will be hanging up his gloves in a shock revelation.

The unbeaten 26-year-old had been in line to make the first defence of his WBO title against Edwin De Los Santos in his hometown of Norfolk on June 7 but was actually stripped of his crown after he failed to make weight, coming in at 4.3lbs over the lightweight limit.

After the teams of both fighters failed to come to a suitable agreement following this, the fight was cancelled and a backstage brawl ensued, which ultimately led to ex-lightweight champion Davis announcing his retirement from the sport at just 26-years-old.

Speaking on a social media live stream recently, Davis once again confirmed that he is officially retired from boxing and will not be making a return to the ring anytime soon.

“Holy cow, ‘When am I getting back in the ring?’ Bro I’m retired, stop asking me that, I’m retired. I’m not like chill, I’m talking about my aura right now, I’m not talking about boxing.”

Davis had been tipped for big things during his boxing career, with promoter Bob Arum previously describing the 26-year-old as the Sugar Ray Leonard of this generation.

It may not be the case though, with fans and analysts alike expressing their frustration at his decision to draw the curtain on his career at such a young age, just months after he became WBO lightweight champion with an impressive stoppage victory over Denys Berinchyk.
