Undefeated ‘Monster’ With 24 KOs Wants Winner Of Canelo vs Crawford: “It’s Time To Show The World”

An unbeaten contender is targeting the winner of the highly anticipated super-fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

The modern greats are set to do battle for the undisputed super-middleweight world championship on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

‘Bud’ Crawford will make his first appearance at 168lbs when he clashes with the Mexican icon next month, just over 12 months on from his 154lb debut where he defeated Israil Madrimov to become WBA super-welterweight champion.

As for Canelo, the 35-year-old from Guadalajara has established himself as the top super-middleweight of his generation, reigning as the undisputed champion on two occasions, the latest of those beginning in May after defeating William Scull.

One fighter in particular that has set his sights on a potential clash with the winner is highly-rated contender Christian Mbilli, who currently holds the WBC interim world title at 168lbs.

Speaking to The Ring Magazine, Mbilli didn’t hesitate to put his name forward to face the winner of the upcoming showdown between Canelo and ‘Bud’, as he prepares to make his return to the ring on the undercard.

“I’m ready to put on a big show for this event and send a message that I am the next guy that will face the winner of Canelo-Crawford, it’s the fight of my life, but I’m ready to show the world how great I am.”

Mbilli – who top trainer Jose Benavidez Sr branded a ‘monster’ – is set to do battle with the unbeaten Lester Martinez on the September 13 undercard, his first ring appearance since he stopped Maciej Sulecki in impressive fashion back in June to capture the vacant WBC interim super-middleweight title. Though it is a perfect platform to make his case for facing the winner, the fight remains unlikely unless ordered by the WBC.

Canelo has eyes on a rematch with Dmitry Bivol at light-heavyweight, whilst Crawford has repeatedly said that he would be more likely to drop back down in weight.
