An unbeaten world champion has vowed to beat Devin Haney in devastating fashion should their paths cross in the future.
Haney produced arguably the best win of his career to date back in November when he defeated countryman Brian Norman Jr via unanimous decision to capture the WBO world welterweight title at the ANB Arena in Riyadh.
The 27-year-old from California had found himself under some criticism up until his clash with Norman but was able to prove the doubters wrong and become a world champion in a third weight class having already captured honours at lightweight and super-lightweight.
As rumours begin to circulate about what could be next for Haney, ‘The Dream’ appears to have been targeted for a domestic match-up with reigning IBF super-lightweight champion Richardson Hitchins.
Speaking on social media recently, Hitchins sent a word of warning out to Haney as he claims he would ‘beat the dog’ out of the former undisputed lightweight champion should they go on to do battle in the future.
“@Realdevinhaney you send me an offer And see if i decline big dog i would beat the f—–g dog s–t out of you”
Hitchins became the IBF world champion at 140lbs back in December of 2024 when he defeated Australia’s Liam Paro via split decision at the conclusion of their bout in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The 28-year-old from Brooklyn made the first defence of his crown against former unified lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr last June, stopping the Australian in the eighth round of their New York City clash.
