Oleksandr Usyk has just a few fights left, but now a British heavyweight has called him out.

Usyk is an all-time great by anyone’s standards. In just 24 fights, he has risen to the very top of the sport and placed himself firmly in the history books as the first-ever two-time undisputed heavyweight champion.

He has also won a Gold medal in the Olympics, and cleaned out the cruiserweight division to become undisputed back in 2018.

Last time out, he stopped Daniel Dubois for a second time to continue a pattern that also involves twice beating Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua on his way to supremacy in the banner division.

At 39, he doesn’t have long left, but Fabio Wardley is hoping that he could be one of the Ukrainian’s final fights. Wardley has an incredible 18 knockouts from his 19 victories with just one draw against Frazer Clarke, who he stopped in their rematch in the very first round.

Speaking to BoxNation, Wardley admitted he has allowed himself to dream of fighting the heavyweight king.

“I think me and my coach on a car journey back from turning was having a weird conversation of almost just stopping and thinking for a second. We had this surreal moment of what the f***k? We started this journey 10 years ago, and I could be one punch away from fighting Usyk for the unified heavyweight title, what is going on, how have we pulled this off? It was a mini pat yourself on the back but also don’t get distracted because there’s a big test in front of you before hand. That’s great, that pot of gold over there is fantastic, but in between you and that is a very dangerous guy.”

That guy is WBO mandatory and former world champion Joseph Parker, who also wants a shot at Usyk but first must see off the challenge of Wardley when the pair fight in October.
