Moses Itauma remains a man on many boxers’ hit lists going into 2036.

The 20-year-old one was of the breakout stars of 2025. He took his record to 13 fights and 13 wins, with 11 coming by KO and nine inside the first two rounds,

Last time out was his best display to date when he stopped veteran world title challenger Dillian Whyte inside the first two minutes back in November.

He is now on a collision course to fight WBA Regular champion Murat Gassiev, though first he fights in January against Jermaine Franklin, the American who has previously shared the ring with Anthony Joshua and Whyte and pushed them the full 12 rounds.

Speaking to Sky Sports, 26-year-old rising American talent Richard Torrez declared himself the man to challenge Itauma next.

“I really want that fight. I’m here, I’m ready. I think the funny thing is you see all these guys calling out Anthony Joshua, you see all these guys calling out the older guys. I’m out here calling out Itauma. I want that fight.

“Two guys that are in the prime of their careers and working hard to be someone. I think this is the spot and the time to show who’s who. I really believe this will be one of those megafights that we could have that would really showcase who’s here to stay and who’s here to be the guy.”

He had praise for how Itauma has made moves so far.

“I think he does have a name for himself and I commend that, for his promotional company moving him the way that they should but just as he’s fought a lot of guys, I’ve fought some pretty good guys as well. I think that they just need the right fight and I think I could be that right fight. I really do.”

Back in April, Torrez made a good step forward with a points win over Guido Vianello. He then boxed in November against Tomas Salek and won by TKO in the first round.
