Undefeated US Heavyweight Doubles Down On Moses Itauma Call Out

Moses Itauma‘s latest win has once again made him a target for many in the heavyweight division.

21-year-old Itauma took his record to 14 and 0 this past weekend with another impressive stoppage win. He has now knocked out 12 of the men he has faced, all inside the first half of the fight, with American Jermaine Franklin the latest to fall foul of his fast hands.

Itauma started aggressively and threw plenty of punches in the first few rounds before settling into the fight and landing cleaner shots as it went on. It was a swift uppercut right on the chin of Franklin that stopped him in his tracks and saw him, with one more right hand, drop to the canvas.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, 26-year-old rising heavyweight Richard Torres Jr had plenty of praise for Itauma.

“It was an incredible performance. As a heavyweight, that’s what you go out looking for, you go out striving for. You train all these times and you get a spectacular knockout like that, it really puts the icing on the cake. That solidifies some questions some of the doubters have had.

“Yes, he’s fighting some of these older guys, but they’re still dangerous man, the Dillian Whytes, the Franklins, all these guys, they’ve showed their skills before.

“Even though they’re knocking on the edge of their careers, all it takes is one punch, man, especially in the heavyweight division, so good on him man for doing what he needed to do. He went out there and showcased his skills. Man’s doing what he needs to do.”

He was then asked how he felt about fighting Moses himself.

“Let me reiterate, if he would ever like to fight, I will fly to you, on a plane, on a train, wherever you want to make it happen, we can make it happen. I think you’re an amazing fighter. I would love to showcase two English fighters fighting against each other.

“You have amazing fans in the UK let’s make it. Revolutionary war times two man. Let’s make it happen, it’s a fan favourite fight that we can make happen. Wherever you want to do it next or a little down the line, I’m ready man, one call away, let me know, we’ll make it happen.”

This could be a huge fight in the near future, though next up, Itauma may have his sights set on a world title as the current WBO and WBA number one. Torres faces Frank Sanchez in an IBF final eliminator on May 26.
