Oleksandr Usyk has his hands full with a vital rematch against Tyson Fury next month, but that hasn’t stopped others in the sport calling him out.

Usyk is unbeaten in the professional ring. His ledger is one of the best in the sport and even before he turned over he picked up an Olympic gold meal back at the London Games in 2012.

By 2018 he had cleared out the cruiserweight division to become and undisputed champion and then moved up to heavyweight where wins against Derek Chisora, Anthony Joshua, Daniel Dubois and most recently Fury led him to four-belt honours in that division too.

Although he had to relinquish the IBF, he must now defend the other three belts against Fury in December, but already Gilberto Ramirez is eyeing him up as a possible future opponent.

Speaking to Seconds Out, the former super-middleweight and current cruiserweight titleholder said he would absolutely consider a move up to the top division after seeing Usyk, who is a similar size, complete the feat.

“Usyk is a small heavyweight but a champion right. I think it would be a good match. I have been watching him and following him a lot and that’s one of my goals, to be undisputed at cruiserweight, then heavyweight, and I’d probably meet him at heavyweight.”

Ramirez was then asked is Usyk will win his rematch with Fury.

“Yes I think so, he has so much skill and he moves really good, he needs to be really sharp that night.”

Usyk has vowed to carry on should he beat Fury and his team has named a rematch with Dubois to once again unify all four major belts as one possible fight.

‘Zurdo’ Ramirez – who has 46 wins and just one loss to Dmitry Bivol – returns to the ring this month to face Brit Chris Billam-Smith in a world title unification bout.
